Overview
Kanchenjunga, at 8,586 m, is the third-highest mountain on Earth and lies on the border between Nepal and Sikkim. The trek to its north base camp at Pangpema is one of the great wilderness journeys of Nepal, passing through subtropical valleys, rhododendron forests, Limbu and Sherpa villages and high pastures.
The region is a restricted area with simple lodges and very few trekkers. It rewards long days of walking with solitude, rich culture and enormous mountain views.
