Overview
The Annapurna Circuit circles the Annapurna massif, climbing from green rice terraces into the dry, Tibetan-influenced valleys of Manang and Mustang. This version adds a detour to Tilicho Lake, one of the highest lakes of its size in the world, before crossing the Thorong La pass at 5,416 m.
The route passes Gurung and Manangi villages, ancient monasteries and some of the best mountain scenery in Nepal, with Annapurna II, Gangapurna and Tilicho Peak close at hand. An acclimatisation day in Manang and a gradual ascent help prepare you for the high pass.
After the crossing you descend to the pilgrimage site of Muktinath, then continue to Jomsom for a short flight to Pokhara. Accommodation is in teahouse lodges throughout the trek.
