Overview
The Annapurna Base Camp trek leads into the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary, a high glacial basin ringed by some of the highest mountains in the world. The trail climbs through terraced farmland, bamboo and rhododendron forest and the Gurung villages of Ghandruk and Chhomrong before opening into the sanctuary at about 4,130 m.
The route is well supplied with comfortable teahouses and is one of the most rewarding moderate treks in Nepal. Sunrise from base camp, when the first light hits Annapurna I and Machhapuchhre, is a highlight you will remember for years.
