Rara Lake, at about 2,990 m, is the largest freshwater lake in Nepal and sits inside Rara National Park in the remote Karnali region. The lake is deep blue, ringed by pine, spruce and juniper forests and with snow peaks in the distance.

The trek begins with a flight to Jumla and follows old trade trails through traditional Khas villages. It is a peaceful, uncrowded trek, ideal for those who want a very different experience from the better-known Himalayan routes.
